Juana Camacho received multiple nominations for her work with the Innovation for integration project at Chalmers. The initiative makes it possible for peace seekers and Chalmers students to meet and become friends. For this she was awarded Student of the Year 2015. Read the judges statement below.
Since Juana couldn't be present, the award was received by Chalmers Student for Sustainability.
What is the Student Of The Year award?
Every year a student at Chalmers is awarded for his or hers remarkable or selfless act to improve student life for fellow students or the university. The award (10 000 SEK) is granted by Tekniska Samfundet and the judging panel consists of a member thereof along with the University and the Student Union.
This year's judging panel consisted Simon Nilsson (Chalmers Student Union), Rickard Ambring (Chalmers) and Lina Nyberg (Tekniska Samfundet)
The judges statements
The winner of the Student of the year award 2015 is described as social, reliable, optimistic and inspiring. During 2015 she has put in both time and dedication to help others. As president of Chalmers Students for Sustainability and project manager for the project Innovation for Integration she has made it possible for new arrivals to meet with students at Chalmers. This project gives the student new perspectives and the new arrival a chance to integrate with society and to be introduced to what studying in Sweden means. It also gives both of them a possibility to meet a new friend. For her work creating value for both students and new arrivals and for being an inspiration for those who wants to help others Juana Camacho Otero is awarded Student of the Year 2015!
